Moran & Bewley's Hotel Group becomes ‘Official Hotel Partner’ for Paralympics Ireland
Irish Paralympic athlete, Orla Barry, is announced as brand ambassador

Moran & Bewley’s Hotel Group are delighted to be involved in supporting Paralympics Ireland through the extensive provision of accommodation, meeting and event facilities. We first got involvement in 2011 and were proud partners of the 2012 Irish Paralympic Team which delivered an impressive haul of 16 medals in London.

Moran & Bewley’s played a key role in the preparations of Irish Paralympic athletes in the lead up to the Games and we also hosted a number of showpiece events. With Irish Paralympic athletes now aiming for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, our support will again prove vital.

Commenting on the renewal of the partnership, Adrian Sherry, Group Marketing Manager for Moran & Bewleys Hotels, said:“We were thrilled to be involved with the incredible Irish Paralympic success at London 2012 and are delighted to help Paralympics Ireland prepare for the challenge of Rio 2016. The performances of Irish Paralympic athletes like Orla Barry are hugely inspiring and we will be supporting them every step of the way.”

Patrick Haslett, Commercial Director for Paralympics Ireland commented: “We were very grateful for the invaluable support of Moran & Bewleys Hotels and their staff in the lead up to London 2012. As Irish Paralympic athletes target the podium at Rio 2016, we look forward to another exciting partnership.”

Orla Barry, Irish Paralympic star (Paralympic/World Discus medalist & world record holder) added: “I’m honored to become an ambassador for Moran & Bewleys Hotels’ involvement with Irish Paralympic sport. I’m a Cork-based athlete, so it’s especially fitting to kick off the partnership again in the Silver Springs.”

Thanks to all involved and we look forward to working together.

We are Leeds, We are Proud - Leeds United

"We are Leeds, We are Proud, Standing up, Singing loud, and there's nothing you can do against the Yellow Whites and Blue"

The current manager Brian Mc Dermot is beginning to the see results coming in having only joined the Championship side in early 2013. The club currently sits two points outside of a play off place and only eight from top spot. Mc Dermot has the experience that Leeds United need having won the Championship with Reading in 2012 and making the play off final in 2011.

Leeds are not just in a good position in the League but also are doing well in the FA Cup. Leeds are facing a 3rd round clash with League two side Rochdale on the 4th of January, so hopefully they can shake of the Christmas and New Year celebrations and progress to the fourth round.

Leeds United players are winning awards as well. Ross Mc Cormack was awarded player of the month for November with seven goals in the Championship alone, with four coming in the 4-2 win away to Charlton. Mc Cormack is a Scottish international who joined the club in 2010 and has cemented his place in the first team.

Leeds United making it back to the Premier League for the first time since 2004 is looking very promising this year with the club in strong position going into the all important Christmas fixtures.

If you are traveling to any of the Leeds United games make sure to stay in your NUMBER ONE LEEDS UNITED HOTEL - Bewley's Hotel Leeds!

We are a short distance from Elland Road and always have live match coverage in The Inkwell Bar. See you there!

Winter Wonderland @ RDS Ballsbridge

Guest Blog: Sara from the Bewley's Hotel Marketing Department

Last Sunday i took a trip to check out Winter Wonderland at the RDS Simmonscourt. I have to say, i was really impressed.

We drove and parked at Bewley's Hotel Ballsbridge although there is plenty of parking provided by RDS.
The entrance to Winter Wonderland is right next door to the hotel. You can enter for free and stroll around. When you walk in you will feel like you have been 'Christmassed'. It's almost like being at the German Christmas Markets. When you walk through there are various vendors specializing in a wide range of snacks such as ginger bread, candied fruit, crepes etc.

To the left you will be drawn by the screams, The Jungle River cannot be missed. There is a charge for all rides. You have to get in to a log and it takes you up high enough to see the Ballsbridge landscape. You then plumit down in to what appears to be a big pool of water. You make a big splash but dont get too wet!

Fosset Circus has a Christmas Show every few hours, we missed that but there was great demand on the day and some of the acts were outside. It looked like a good show to bring the kids to.

It was very windy on Sunday so we weren't brave enough to take on the Big Wheel. I went on it before when it was just Funderland and it is really good, you can see every corner of Dublin when you are up the top.

The Christmas Markets hadnt opened on Sunday but i have heard from people that have been there last night that they are great for little craft bits.

Funderland was open and had all of the great rides its famous for. There is a charge in but well worth the visit, so much fun!

We spent most of our time at ISkate. It was €15 per adult in and that was at peak time, the prices vary pending time of the day. The rink is in really good condition and they have a great team there helping everyone. We stayed on the ice for the full session. For kids there is a kiddie rink and there are special skates for them too. You can get attachments to their shoes or the skates with double blades. There are little penguin holders that kids can sit on or hold on to as they make their way around the ice.

As we left we sampled the Crepes which were amazing! We still had enough room for our dinner in The Brasserie in Bewley's Hotel Ballsbridge. We opted for a main course each and the hotel just launched 'Kids Eat Free' when accompanied with an adult. There are money saving options such as purchasing tickets online rather than at the desk.

This is a great day out and highly recommended for all ages. If you are trying to think of a great girlie, boys, family or work day or evening out then mark this high on your list of options!

A Taste Of Dublin

One of Dublins best foodie events will be taking place at the Iveagh Gardens from June 13th to 16th. Don't know what to wear? Fashion Blogger Lorna Weightman has provided some top fashion tips when attending Food Festivals!

Hello hats!

A summer must have accessory is the hat, and there is no more appropriate time to wear something like a bowler or panama style hat than at a food festival where chic style is always welcome what ever the weather. Summer hats add elegance to even the most casual of outifts, and there are plenty of styles to choose from this season.

Panama Hat available from Accessorize

Flat shoes are your friend!

Although there are plenty of designated walkways throughout the festivals, ensure you are wearing comfortable shoes (flats or wedges are recommended) so you can casually stroll among the stands.

Wedge heel sandals available for €20 in Heatons.

Keep rainproof!

With Irish weather being changeable to say the least, and with most food festivals being located out of doors, remember to bring a waterproof jacket with a hood to keep you dry in case of some summer showers!

You can grab this Parka Jacket from Marks & Spencers.

Accessories

Bangles, earrings and necklaces can make a real statement; whether you are in your favourite weekend t-shirt or your most stylish blouse, adding some bling can bring an outfit to life. Try stacking bangles, of  various styles and colours, along your arm - one of my favourite tips for summer. As you sip your prosecco, watch the bangles catch the light.

Bangles from Coldlillies.com from €158

Sunnies, the must have accessory
Sunglasses are the icing on the cake for ever summer outfit. From large lensed designer styles, to the newest trend of aviators, opt for a frame that flatters the shape of your face. And try some colours, like white or even a printed frame!

These glasses are an absolute bargin from Penny's from €1.50

Tickets for Taste of Dublin are available online here, or call 0818 30 00 30.

Music Festivals Dublin

Bewley's Hotels have teamed up with Fashion Blogger Lorna Weightman to give you the top tips when attending a music festival in Dublin this summer!

One of the highlights of the summer is the abundance of music festivals Ireland has to offer, whether you like to camp or just do a day trip, here are the top fashion tips to help you pack your rucksack!

Get the bag right

Keeping your valuables safe, while looking stylish is key so opt for a cross body bag or satchel! This will also keep your hands free for dancing to your favourite band!

Be original!

So many celebs set the tone for festival style, but this summer why not be the trendsetter and take inspiration, but create your own festival look! Whether it’s customising a t-shirt to making your own accessories, it’s a great time to be creative!

Wear those Wellingtons

Festivals in Ireland can mean one thing - mud! Keeping those feet warm and dry is a fashion priority, so invest in some good wellingtons to last you this festival season and the next! And one important tip - always carry a spare pair of socks!

Leave that maxi dress at home!

Maxi dresses and long skirts are not exactly festival friendly, as they can drag or even worse, be stepped on! Stick to midi or minis for skirts, but ideally, jeans and hardwearing fabrics are more practical.

Stay waterproof

Raincoats do not have to be unflattering! Try a parka with a hood to keep that hair dry, or a trench coat is always an elegant option. Either way, a waterproof jacket is a must!

And don’t forget to post pictures of our festival outfits to your social networks! Instagram is a music festival favourite!
