GAA - The fight for glory continues

The fight for glory continues!!

2014 is a year of great excitement for our national sport. We are gaining global recognition for our Gaelic games now that the matches can be viewed on Sky TV. This sports is now been recognised for it’s  great skill and entertainment throughout the globe. As our sport grows so does our passion and this has been expressed in the quality of skill and determination of all teams involved for this year’s All Ireland Finals.

We can now look forward to a thrilling weekend of semi final action in the GAA All Ireland Senior Championship. On Saturday 30th August the replay of last weekend’s clash between the very strong Kerry and the ever determined Mayo will take place in Limerick. This will be a game not too be missed weather in front of the TV or on the side of the pitch, both teams will be back to full strength with 15 men on the pitch for the Kick off. Mayo fought very hard last weekend to come back and level the score and take a small lead near the end of the game but unfortunately Kerry took advantage of a few tired legs as Mayo played the majority of the game a man down.

In Croke Park we will also be treated to fine display of football on Sunday 31st of August with Dublin taking on Donegal. This semi final can only bring back memories of the 2011 semi final clash of these two teams with Dublin securing a marginal win over Donegal of just 2 points. Dublin will show why they are considered one of the favourites as they continue to play their aggressive attacking game but they will be up against the very strong blanket defensive of Donegal. Two very different styles of Football and a match that should not be missed.

Bewleys Dublin Airport is ideally located close to Croke Park and offers excellent rates for overnight stays. You can also stop in and check out our newly refurbished public areas in the hotel and relax in the Playwright bar with a bite to eat. Book direct for best prices at Bewleys Hotel Dublin Airport.

Moran & Bewley's Hotels would like to wish the Best of Luck to Kerry senior football team and Cork senior Ladies who we are proud to sponsor.

In a summer of amazing concerts in Ireland, The Charlatans’ appearance at Bulmers Live at Leopardstown might be one that has flown under your radar until now.

You should fix that.
The British indie rock band has been on the go since the late 80s, and with good reason. With eleven studio albums under their belt since, this soul/rock act first assaulted the charts in 1990 with debut single “Indian Rope”. The reaction was enough to secure the band a label, and the follow-up “The Only One I Know” was a smash, hitting the top 10 on release. What has followed is twenty-four years of musical magic. If you’re thinking of heading to see the band on August 14th, we’ve got five very good reasons why you should.

The Only One I Know
This is the single that really let The Charlatans make their mark. A top 10 hit in the UK, it reached number 11 in the Irish charts and even broke the US Modern Rock charts, reaching number 5. In 2007, Robbie Williams put his own spin on the track when he covered it for Mark Ronson’s album Version.

Me. In Time
“Me. In Time” was the last single from The Charlatans to really make an impact on the Irish charts, hitting number 12. The first of the band’s songs to feature Mark Collins, its failure to appear on any studio album means that fans go crazy for it. What is seldom is wonderful and all that…

One To Another
The lead single from the band’s fifth studio album, “Tellin Stories”, this was arguably the band’s most successful single, hitting a high of number three in the UK charts. Trivia factoid: One to Another features drum loops provided by Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers.

You’re So Pretty - We’re So Pretty
This song originally featured on the band’s Wonderland album in 2001, and appeared in a Carlsberg advert the following year. A remixed version was released by Youth in 2006.

Oh! Vanity
Two decades after their launch, The Charlatans were still at the forefront of music innovations. In 2008 “Oh! Vanity” was released as a free digital download, followed by their partnership with Xfm to become the first UK band to release an album completely free to download via a radio station.
